While we are actively taking extra measures to ensure your safety, we strongly advise you to stay vigilant and be aware of scams and fraudulent websites. These pages and websites often claim to have special sales or giveaways to lure you into a trap where you share your personal information with them.
Always be alert and make sure you take extra steps to protect yourself from these scammers. You can check to see if a specific bank account number or phone number is authentic or a scam by visiting any of the channels below.
1. Verify scams via the CCID website
The CCID, short for Commercial Crimes Investigation Department, is our national department that investigates and deals with any white-collar crime issue within our country.
The site provides a form that you can fill in to check and verify if any bank account numbers or phone number have been reported as scams. You can try it out now and see for yourself: http://ccid.rmp.gov.my/semakmule/
2. Get the "Check Scammers CCID" app on mobile (available on Google Play Store only).
Other than the website, the CCID has an Android app that also allows you to check any bank account numbers or phone numbers for reported scams. The app provides a list of different helplines and numbers you can call for any scam-related issues you might have. Click here to download.
3. Call the CCID Infoline at 013-211 1222
Lastly, you can call, SMS or even Whatsapp the CCID Infoline at 013-211 1222 to get a quicker response when checking for scam numbers. The infoline is open for your queries from 8AM - 12AM everyday.
