I am one of your Digi user.

 

Just want to confirm if we signed any package with Digi , are we going to resposible for all the bill incure by Digi onl;y

or any other third pary bill they charge Digi then Digi can simply redirect to us and we must paid.

 

Are the agreement that we sign showing that whatever bill charge through Digi bill we must pay?

Most of the customer knowing that they only sign Telephone line or dATA LINE WITH dIGI AND PAY THE BILL FOR TELEPHONECHARGES AND SMS OR dATA ONLY. DOES DIGI MENTIONED TO THE CUSTOMER UPON SIGNING THE AGREENET

OR PACKAGE HIHGLIGHT THE CHARGES BY THIRD PARTY TO dIGI THEN THE CUSTOMER MUST PAY?

This unauthorised billing issue in DIgi is really big. And DIGI is currently turning a blind eye on it. I too have a series of unauthorised billing under googleplay. Unauthorized, without verification and without notifications. Only popped up in the bill at the end of the month. DIGI conveniently push the responsibility to Googleplay, In some of our case here in the  community, Mobipay. This is totally unethical. 

 

DIGI answer is simple. I'm quoting DIGI customer service specialist: "Whatever the vendor bill DIGI, DIGI will bill the user".

 

If DIGI were to incooperate  this direct billing  method into their system, there has got to be some verification and security features build into it  and allow the user to verify and confirm the transaction 1st before proceeding with the billing. Otherwise, any vendor can just issue blling to DIGI, and DIGI bill to us.

 

Enough of talking and complaining to DIGI. A lot of these post here goes all the way back  1-2 years. And DIGI still  doesn't have the appropriate  responce to this matter. 

 

I would like to bring this matter up to MCMC , commercial cybercrime unit and any other relevant authorities. Perhaps get some comunity leaders and political parties  involve. Newspaper and media as well.  

Let's get organised and bring in the authorities.  If we don't deal with this type of  issue now,  it is only going to get worse in the future.  Our children, families and friends, all of them will fall in to this trap. it is just a matter of time.

 

Anyone of you with experience,  know-how and contacts. Let's share and organise.

@WongN, Digi has been filtering off SMS from non compliant third party SMS company upon getting such feedback. Frequency of such incidents can be seen reducing on the community forum: http://community.digi.com.my/t5/Apps-Services/Third-Party-Charges-from-Content-Providers/ta-p/21328

For Google Play services, the mechanism is very different from third party SMS subscription. Your SIM card would need to be in an Android phone, and the user to tap on Enable Digi Billing on Play Store app. You can see the guide here: https://community.digi.com.my/t5/Others/Direct-Billing-For-Google-Play-via-Digi/m-p/3517#U3517

Upon completing the steps to set up Digi billing, that Android phone will have authority to charge to your Digi account for app/games/in-app purchases.

You guys working in DIGI are a funny bunch. To date I have contacted DIGI like 6-8 times. I have a series of 6-8 complaint numbers. Informing DIGI that there are unauthorised transaction to my DIGI bill. All of you give me the same irrelevant answer to the same proble.  

 

You all told me to remove or delete the  payment option from the Googleplay  account setting in my phone. 1st of all, I have never set it up in the 1st place. How do I remove it if I have never set it up??? There is no record  of any transaction in the order history.

 

I have brought this matter up to Google Play together with the correlation code of the transactions. And they confirmed that these transactions are not made using my account!!!

 

The key question now is this. How did someone else register  in,  using another ID and password, made a total of 6 purchases and somehow get billed to my  DIGI line??? All these are done when the phone and the SIM card is with me. That is not all, there are no SMS notifications or email notifications of the transaction as well.  I only get the billing at the end of the month!!!

 

The way I see this matter, there is a serious  security loop hole in the payment system. It is probably not even a hack or cyber breach. More like a open loop hole. Vendors and cyber criminals realised  this and they are cashing in as much as they can until DIGI ready to shut it down.

 

Nobody in DIGI seems to believe that this is possible. NO actions, reports or explanations  are given  to date. You just keep telling me to turn off / remove the payment option.  I have never registered it. How to turn it off / remove it?

 

I have been with DIGI about a decade. I used to proudly tell my accociates and friends that DIGI billing is one of the most straightforward and clear cut. Not anymore, I believe!!!

@WongN, have you lent your SIM card to anyone's Android phone? Just sharing that it is also a possibility to register Digi Billing using your Digi account when your SIM card is in another phone with someone else's Google account. Then the owner of this phone could purchase apps on his Google Play account while billing to your Digi account without your knowledge.

Google Play billing method is a standard offering by Google to many other participating telco. Since you have contacted Google, were they willing to tell you which Google Play account made the purchase?

I find it highly unlikely that it's due to SIM card swapping. I found the these articles helded me understand what is going on.

True that these are articles from other places in the world, but it shows how BIG the problem is. It doesn't matter where you go online or when will it happen, only how you go online. Surfing the net with your smartphone will cause this issue with 3rd party billing unless the teleco stop 3rd party billing.

Most likely (and this is my Opinion) Digi has sign a contract that is binding to these 3rd party billing companies for a certain period of time, maybe 5 years, and now Digi can't find a way out of it.

The only way to get a teleco to take anything seriously is we all take serious action. Please read or Google for more articles on 3rd party billing scam.

Here a link to prove it is not the customer's fault that they are charged by 3rd parties and that the service provider should not push the blame to customer by saying they shared their SIM card, click on promo, ect. Digi must stop these charges.

Thanks for this info.

I "kena" the same thing from two SCAM SMS of RM5 everyweek, namely DOMOCO DIGITAL DOB & Centili. 

There is no excuse because Digi has had the similar complaints from angry customers all these while with the similar issue.

As a TELCO service provider, they can take preemptive action to block these mafia SMS senders!

 

I called up Digi operator, she agreed to act on this, but she didn't sound very promosing about this.
