Android Oreo is finally out, so we’ve compiled a list of our favourite features on this new update!
Its sweet, tasty name. From the beginning of Android’s time (actually, just Android 1.6), tech enthusiasts will get excited at each new iteration, especially for its sweet names! This even triggered contests and conversations of what their names will be. Here’s a list of each generation of Android:
Our smartphones are getting more powerful than ever, allowing us to multitask like never before. A recent update to the Android OS allows apps to run side-by-side in split-screen mode. However, this meant that these apps took up much of the space on your smartphone’s screen. But with picture-in-picture feature, users get to enjoy videos while jumping between their favourite apps to make the most of their productive day.
More functional widgets
Gone are the ‘traditional’ ways of executing tasks by opening your app and navigating around it. With the new iteration of Android Oreo, users get to just press and hold on an app, allowing action menus to pop-up. Take action, now (without having to open those apps)!
Wider colour gamut Though smartphone developers are constantly improving their displays, it still needs a good OS that can support it. Lucky for Android users, Oreo allows creators of imaging apps to make better use of the high-end displays. Yay to express editing!
Manage your notifications
You can now group your notifications into separate channels and that’ll give you extra control over the categories of your app notification. You can also snooze your notifications for 15 minutes, 30 minutes or even an hour!
