Third Party Charges for SMS from Content Providers

Dear friends,

 

Having concerns on unauthorized content subscriptions? Having surprises on your monthly billing?

 

Our team has now enhanced the 3rd party content providers service by implementing double confirmation action (e.g. AOC – Advisory of Charges and TAC) to confirm consumer intent before purchasing mobile content.

To activate only genuine subscriptions, subscriber will receive a confirmation web link as the below. This web link will lead subscribers to a screen to key in the TAC code sent to your mobile number before confirmation of purchase(as per attached in figure below).

 

With this added feature, we hope our subscribers will have a better experience in the subscription of these services!

If you are subscribed to a third party Content Provider (CP) service that uses a 5-digit short code, you can unsubscribe from the service immediately by:


1) Replying STOP ALL to the SMS message or short code.


2) Unsubscribe via MyDigi. Go to Setting > Subscriptions > Subscription based services > Check on services that you would like to unsubscribe. 

 

Some tips to be mindful when receiving SMSes from short codes:
• Read the SMS carefully before giving consent or opting in to the service.
    Typically the SMS will ask you to type YES or Y in reply to the short code to subscribe.

• Do not click on any links within the SMS as it might lead you to accidentally subscribing to a service.

• Do not subscribe to any services from any unfamiliar or suspicious SMSes.

• Do not click on any suspicious banners or links that indicate you have won a prize.

• Do not enter your mobile number on any unfamiliar or suspicious webpages.

• Do not enter your phone number if a page shows that “your phone has a virus” and asks for your phone number to clear it.

• Beware of ads that may lead you to phishing websites.

• Beware of installing third party apps other than from the official Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

• Beware of granting permissions to third party apps to send SMSes from your phone.

 

We at Digi do not condone the use of our 5-digit short code service by errant third party CPs who do not comply to MCMC’s mandatory standards for the provision of mobile content services.

Saya ingin membuat laporan mengenai TOURGAME. Sepanjang ini, kredit saya telah dipotong tanpa persetujuan saya. Malah apabila saya ingin menghentikan langganan, sms tidak dapat dihantar.  Dari perbincangan sebelum ini, saya rasakan isu ini (Tourgame & sms 20000) hanya melibatkan pengguna DiGi. Mohon DiGi selesaikan perkara ini dengan menamatkan langganan saya, refund kembali kredit atau saya laporkan kepada Tribunal Pengguna dan menukar kepada syarikat Telco lain. Harap maklum..

I found out that my account had been charged RM4 but there was not the sms from the 5 digit short code. The number is look like normal handphone number and the message contain my handphone number. After the sms had been sent to me and I checked that my account had been charged  RM4. I didn'Screenshot_20180307-025608.png subscribe any service and I had been charged for that. I hope Digi can solve this.

When  I checked  the prepaid balance, I noticed that the credit balance has been deducted  RM 2 & RM3 for your service but I have never ever subscribe your service. Kindly cancel and refund the money to me. My number is : +60149467716

Saya pun pergi ke pautan seperti dalam sms untuk membatalkan langganan tersebut.  Kemudian saya menerima sms ini :

 

RM0. Your subscription to Jam City Arcade Mobile Games Club has been terminated. Thank you for your patronage.

 

 

Saya telah dicaj untuk perkara yang saya tidak mahu.

Pls verify with your AOC (Advisory of Charges)Team, i didnt get any "Subcriber Confirmation Page" prompt, and the RM4 already charged to my account after 5min. Meaning the AOC already didn't work as expected.

I only found out that I'm being charged RM 4.00 for value added services without receiving any of the message as shown by other digi user. In the bills, it stated value added service 33303. Now only i realised why sometimes the bill is different from the signed up cost. This incident makes me wanted to check back all my bills.

 

 Please waive the charges and stop this kind of spamming with charges before I take any further action.

Having the same issues.. this is the 4th month this  service is charging me.

 

Digi conversation on my issue.

 

With reference to your concern, please be informed that the third party service subscriptions from short code 36247 is a non Digi services. In addition we wish to clarify that Digi only acted as a payment platform between the subscribers and the third party service provider. Nevertheless, we have notified the respective service provider to deactivate the subscription from your mobile number and ask their assistance to refund the subscription fees into your mobile number. Please take note that you be able to view the reimbursement on the "Adjustment" section in the first page of the next bill statement.

Noted and Thank you for your assistance – please add this refund/request for July bill as well.

 

Furthermore, you may simply type 'STOP ALL' SMS and send it to 3XXXX to cancel the application (only if you receive it in future). Make sure there's a response by receiving SMS alert for the cancellation status. Please be more careful whenever you access the internet or third party application. Do not click any promo or advertisement that pop-up on your device to avoid from additional charges in future.

  • Done ‘STOP ALL’ > no response what so ever from the number referred previously and until now about cancellation status.
  • No internet access/3rd party application or promo ads > the phone is good old 3210 Nokia (brick phone) – not a smart phone (which I use for work only/emergency cases).
  • Can you check my July details bill on this number ….. I can tell there are still there. Hopefully this will stop on this coming on august bills. Or else I need to terminate this number for good.

 

Hopefully this will be resolved for good. or else good bye digi.

My wife was signed up for Mocoplay without her knowledge. There was no double confirmation from Digi with tag either. I suspect Digi is secretly signing up their subscribers and making money off unsuspecting customers of theirs.

And I didnt received any SMS from that number.

I sent  STOP ALL to 32266 but the reply I got is

RM0.00: You are not subscribed to any subscription service. For more info, please send Help to 32266.

Seeing this on-going thread, I have been checking on my bill usage quite frequently and Walla! I have been charged RM4.00 for Value Added Services 33980 on 25/11/2018.

 

As usual, made a complaint via MyDigi apps and was told that this 33980 subscription is no longer active but still being charged for it. Thus Digi has triggered for a request refund for it.

 

For those who received this charging from 33980, it belongs to this content provider, Teramobile Sdn Bhd. (Mind you, there's no SMS whatsoever about it!)

 

Hopefully can get the refund (Digi says 5-7 working days). Finger crossed.Value Added Services 33980.png

How about the 'Viu' Subcription ?

I just found that i have this  subcription (unauthorized) to Viu since Aug'18 after i checked my bill and called the DIGI hotline to verify.

 

I was told that an SMS was sent to my moble number but i never replied 'Yes' to subcribe Viu because my postpaid line only used as wifi at home through MOBIFI for year already.

 

Then i get the addtional charge RM10/month for this subcription which i never agreed / authorized.

 

How can this happen ???

How can i get back the refund from DIGI ?

hi..

it happen to me this morning where the tourgame charged me rm4 for the subscription ..and i saw the thread show this problrm occur since last year a d digi still cant do anything to stop it..my case is more worse coz i didnt get any tac sms for the transaction and it stated the subscription is renewed even i never ever received any subcription msg earlier..if this happen again..i'll do not hesitate to leave digi to other telecom provider..

Dear Digi,

I have the same the problem only starting this month.

I have been using Mobifi Broadband 105 and was upgraded upon bill payment last month when I realized my bill payment for this month has suddenly increasing.

 

I have never subscribed to anything in the past month and as I recalled I have never downloaded anything from third party apps but last night while going online I am being charged another RM4. I tried the STOP ALL method and again got charged for another extra RM0.45 cents.

 

As I checked I am being charged these extras from Value added services 32266 and value added services 32883.

I seem to encounter similar issue.

 

My bill of extra RM4 stated "Value added services 33980". I've tried using MyDigi app to unsubscribe, but it showed that I'm not subscribed to any subscription. Then I tried sending STOP ALL to 33980, which also didn't work as the reply I got was "You are not subscribed to any subscription."

Hi! Semlm 22 Disember 2018 saya telah mendapat 3 sms dari 3 nombor berbeza yang menghantar TAC. Belum sempat saya berbuat apa-apa credit sayA telah ditolak sebanyak RM11 ($4+$4+$3).

pada masa sama semua kena emel aduan.skmm.gov.my   . skmm akan emel digi ,dan pekerja digi akan bertambah kerja kena melayan emel skmm.  digi akan reply

walaupun ko tak pernah subcribe apa2 atau visit website tu!

 

lepas tu emel juga kepada   gobindsinghdeo@kkmm.gov.my  supaya menteri ni tau apa  isu berlaku di ground dan boleh bagi arahan  atauu gubal akta telco yang suka2 caj orang ni boleh kena denda. kalau tau ..korang layan la mesej digi tu.

Where's the response?

 

Why is the sum RM8.45 is being charged to this month bill payment? I am not paying that RM8.00 and extra RM0.45 just to use the STOP ALL METHOD if this is happening.

 

Please do something. I only will pay what data I use and not that RM8.45. If downloading something just to update my software and app and this happens it should be absorbed into my usual bill payment like always. This has never happened before.

 

And this plan change - I never activated that since this thing is what causing me to pay these extra fees. Please deactivate this plan. Please do your job and response to all your complainers.

Account saya (ZAINUDIN BIN ZAINOL 1100036018889telah dikenakan bayaran untuk service DOB for fortumo sejak Jun 2018 lagi, sehingga kini sudah melebihi rm100. Saya telah cuba matikan service ini melalui STOP ALL & tukar setting dalam Google Play bulan November tetapi masih dikenakan bayaran. Saya ingin membuat laporan dan meminta pemulangan bayaran kerana saya tidak menggunakan DOB for fortumo ini.

Digi, please assist. I have previously managed to reach your Live Chat support (in the myDigi app) about 2 unauthorised charges and was promised the service provider will refund the amount within 3-5 working days. It has been almost a month now and the refund hasn't happened. Also, I am unable to get any help at all via the myDigi app now... seems like no one is manning the Live Chat service.

 

I need someone from Digi to follow up with me on my case ASAP. Complaining on this forum doesn't seem to help at all. I can see so many cases above from other users from so long back but the problems are the same i.e. unauthorised charges.

 

For the record, I have not received any TAC code for authorising 3rd party services. I also did not click on any unknown browser pop ups or marketing SMS sent to my phone as this is not my main phone. So please don't tell me that "...the subscription is genuine and was initiated from the above mobile number...".

 

Learn from other mobile companies and allow users to block such services.
