Third Party Charges for SMS from Content Providers

Dear friends,

 

Having concerns on unauthorized content subscriptions? Having surprises on your monthly billing?

 

Our team has now enhanced the 3rd party content providers service by implementing double confirmation action (e.g. AOC – Advisory of Charges and TAC) to confirm consumer intent before purchasing mobile content.

To activate only genuine subscriptions, subscriber will receive a confirmation web link as the below. This web link will lead subscribers to a screen to key in the TAC code sent to your mobile number before confirmation of purchase(as per attached in figure below).

 

With this added feature, we hope our subscribers will have a better experience in the subscription of these services!

If you are subscribed to a third party Content Provider (CP) service that uses a 5-digit short code, you can unsubscribe from the service immediately by:


1) Replying STOP ALL to the SMS message or short code.


2) If the above STOP ALL method does not work, please call the Digi Helpline at 016-221 1800 and we will assist you in unsubscribing.

 

3) Unsubscribe via MyDigi. Go to Setting > Subscriptions > Subscription based services > Check on services that you would like to unsubscribe. 

 

Some tips to be mindful when receiving SMSes from short codes:
• Read the SMS carefully before giving consent or opting in to the service.
    Typically the SMS will ask you to type YES or Y in reply to the short code to subscribe.

• Do not click on any links within the SMS as it might lead you to accidentally subscribing to a service.

• Do not subscribe to any services from any unfamiliar or suspicious SMSes.

• Do not click on any suspicious banners or links that indicate you have won a prize.

• Do not enter your mobile number on any unfamiliar or suspicious webpages.

• Do not enter your phone number if a page shows that “your phone has a virus” and asks for your phone number to clear it.

• Beware of ads that may lead you to phishing websites.

• Beware of installing third party apps other than from the official Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

• Beware of granting permissions to third party apps to send SMSes from your phone.

 

We at Digi do not condone the use of our 5-digit short code service by errant third party CPs who do not comply to MCMC’s mandatory standards for the provision of mobile content services.

I need to know who is behind Value Added Services 32339 so that I can bring this matter to Consumer Tribunal.

 

And how do I get refund? Can DiGi refund on behalf of this culprit and you take legal action againts them?

Mobipay is sending via 20000, it is not in the block list, How do we ensure that  Digi has blocked this stupid content provider for good? There is so many victims already by this content provider and Digi said it is we the user who is responsible  for unauthorized charges

Dear Digi,

 

Untuk makluman saya baru upgrade plan digi saya dari 68 kepada 80 menggunakan no lama iai tu 010-xxx2097. Plan terdahulu saya tiada masalah dengan digi tetapi bila saya menukar plan saya menghadapi pemasalahan dengan kehadiran no-no ini yang charge ke  akaun sya. Jumaat yang lepas saya telah pergi ke DIGI centre di putrajaya untuk terminate no lama dan  ambil no baru sekali dengan penukaran no akaun saya. Merujuk pada staff digi di sana  kemungkinan  berlaku perkara tersebut di sebabkan surfing internet. dan setelah menukar no yang baru  staff digi berkenaan mengatakan tiada lagi no-no ini charge  akaun saya. Tapi malangnya  pada hari yang sama jam 8.18 pm dan 8.21pm dari no yang sama iaitu 32883 charge  akaun saya. Padahal saya x de surf internet puni sebab baru bertukar no. ini amat mengecewakan saya dari mana no ini boleh dapat no baru saya. Saya dah buat STOP ALL tapi saya rasa benda sementara sahaja dan akan berlaku lagi. Kali ini no ini send kepada no saya sebanyak 2 kali  dalam jangka masa dalam selang beberapa minit dengan charge ke akaun saya rm 8.00.

 

Persoalan saya di mana letak nya integriti digi dalam hal ini  ianya melibatkan akaun pelanggan kepada third party.

Dear Digi team,

My mom has been harrassed with the SMS which is charged like the others (i.e. RM4, RM5). We children have stopped the SMSes for many times already and now they start sending again.

 

This is **bleep**ing me off as  I am paying more than RM100 only for all these SMSes within a month. My mom does not know how to handle these SMSes, until I get this month's bill to pay.

 

Please help urgently.

this is the second month I have to pay for these unwanted messages from third party numbers. This month I am charged for more than RM65. I cant keep paying these additional charges. I have to pay a lot monthly now. Please stop this immediately because I receive the messages daily. I have tried all ways possible to stop the service but it keeps sending.

An sms from 39938 came in again this morning and my balance was deducted again for RM4. Can Digi unregister my phone from the service mentioned in my previous post and stop 39938 from deducting my balance immediately and provide refund for the amount lost!!!! Saya tidak ingin dicaj sebab tindakan yang bukan kemahuan saya dan amat berharap hal ini tidak akan lagi berlaku.

COME ON DIGI THIS IS GETTING TOO MUCH!!!!!

 

Digi auto registered (AGAIN after the 23/23 Apr incident) my phone to 36773 service on 12 May 2017  and RM4 was deducted from  my account. Within a span of 5 days, on 17 May,  another RM5 was deducted. This time DIGI auto registered my phone to 36635 service. As I have never signed up for any of the mentioned services, I demand that DIGI immediately refund the amounts deducted.  Although DIGI refunded RM8 in the 23/24 Apr case, I find this is a most annoying practice  by the service provider. It is causing inconvenience (and inefficiencies) to both the users and DIGI employees. I have been a long time DIGI user.

Dear Digi,

 

I am experiencing the same problem with the other DIGI users.

 

Digi auto registered  my phone to 36635 service on 19 May 2017@7.56am and RM5 was deducted from  my account on 19.05.2017 @7.57am. As I have never signed up for any of the mentioned services, I demand that DIGI immediately refund the amounts deducted. 

 

Before this, DIGI has been also auto registered a few  value added services. But i manage to unsubcribed it before it charge me.

 

Another case was logged to MCMC on  02.03.2017 (complain ID 0317-01-000117-DIGI). DIGI replied on 21.03.2017 saying that "based on our reocords, short code 36333 was registered on 28.02.2017 and deactivated on 02.03.2017). What kind is feedback is that???? I wan a refund and explanation on why i am being auto registered with these "value added service" and not the status of the value added service.

 

I hope DIGI will take serious action on this matter.

Upon checking, the service from 36333 has been successfully deactivated on 02/06/2017. Smiley Happy If the service is not something you need or request, you may send one SMS with the word STOP ALL and send it to 3xxxx to cancel the application to avoid further charges. You have to be careful whenever you access the internet or third party application. Do not click any promo or advertisement that pop-up on your device or you will be charged for the subscription. Dear DIGI,

 

In between the period 30May 2017 to 22/6/2017, I have received a total 17 message from 36670,  charging me RM 4.00 each. The thing is I NEVER subcribed to any of the content that they sent. And I immediately stopped the subcription through MYDIGI apps when I realised the issue but that was after I being charged RM 68.00 for the 17 messages. I tried calling digi contact centre, but they never pick up the phone. I want the refund, I shouldn't get charged on this.

This is getting ridiculous again.

 

My 70 year old mum has a simple Samsung phone with no internet services. Yet there has been few charges in last few months.

Hi, I have just been charged RM4 from 36660, and  I did not subscribe to anything, would I be getting my refund of the RM4 charged? I have sent STOP ALL to 36660 as per instructed by your Live Chat representative, who had then stopped replying me when I started asking for a refund for the RM4.
