What does Fair Usage Policy basically mean?

by Marshie SuperUser on ‎22-03-2017 04:06 PM - edited on ‎01-06-2017 01:41 PM by Community Manager

Fair Usage Policy (FUP) basically means to use data - Without Abuse.

What is Abuse?
Any suspicious internet behaviour that hogs or is unneighbourly to other netizens who use data as well.
Digi seeks to manage customers’ usage by throttling their bandwidth to a much lower internet speed to be fair to all customers.

Why do we have FUP?
We want our service to be fast and available for our customers at all times. The FUP is designed with that goal in mind. Digi views the vast majority of customers should not suffer from a slower service because of a very small number of high bandwidth users.

Who are impacted?
Customers who are excessively downloading using P2P applications such as uTorrent, eDonkey, Gnutella, or any file sharing software such as Limewire.
